The raid on Rapacc, also known as the Rapacc attack, was a battle orchestrated by Senior Captain Mitth'raw'nuruodo of the Chiss Ascendancy in order to capture a blockade frigate of the Nikardun Destiny in the Rapacc system. After having discovered the Nikardun during prior investigations in the system, Thrawn wished to study them further.
Thrawn and caregiver Thalias had previously met a Paccosh named Uingali and his spokesman, who described the brutal and oppressive nature of their Nikardun conquerers and their leader Yiv. Uingali had even entrusted Thrawn with safeguarding his treasured double ring bearing the likeness of a chimaera, fearing the extinction of the Paccosh at the hands of Yiv's forces.
Thrawn hired the Pathfinder navigator Qilori to bring the Springhawk into the system near the Nikardun starships. Once there, Thrawn distracted all but one of his pursuers with an automatic shuttle, managing to disable and capture the remaining vessel.
