Rahara Wick

Rahara Wick first appeared in the canon novel Master & Apprentice, written by Claudia Gray and published in 2019. Gray imagined Wick as being portrayed by actress Gemma Chan.

In an interview with StarWars.com, Gray described the process of creating Wick, explaining that the character and her partner Maripher were designed in tandem. Gray designed the story to show what the impact of slavery could look like and stated that Wick's personality came from that idea. The character was also designed to be a "no-nonsense Watson character" based on Lucy Liu's Dr. Joan Watson in the TV show Elementary.
