R2-Q2

Biography

R2-Q2 was an R2 series astromech droid that was manufactured by Industrial Automaton. During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the astromech droid served the Empire. In 0 BBY, it was stationed on board the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Devastator when the starship chased the rebel CR90 corvette Tantive IV from the Scarif system to the Tatoo system following the Battle of Scarif.

After the Star Destroyer disabled the corvette, R2-Q2 was part of the team that boarded the rebel ship, which they suspected was carrying the plans for the Death Star superweapon, which had been stolen at Scarif. R2-Q2 was tasked with seeking out evidence of the ship's ties to the Rebellion and rolled down one of the corvette's corridors alongside fellow Imperial astromech R4-M9 and several Imperial stormtroopers escorting a group of captive rebel combatants. The crew of the Tantive IV were ultimately arrested as rebels, but the Empire failed to retrieve the Death Star plans.

By 34 ABY, R2-Q2 no longer served the Empire, which had fallen in 5 ABY, and instead served as a member of the Resistance, a successor of the Rebel Alliance who opposed the First Order, a successor state of the Empire. R2-Q2 was stationed at the Resistance base on the planet D'Qar and, after the Resistance victory at the Battle of Starkiller Base, R2-Q2 was part of the crowd that gathered to watch the Millennium Falcon, a YT-1300 light freighter, leave to seek out the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker. Shortly after the Falcon departed, the base on D'Qar was evacuated and then destroyed.
