R'iia was a deity worshiped by Teedos on the desert planet Jakku. The Teedos thought R'iia to be angry and unkind, believing that R'iia's breath was the cause of a never-ending storm which created famine, drought, and was responsible for the Battle of Jakku and Starship Graveyard. Consequently, the Teedos named the storm X'us'R'iia. Despite the Teedos' warnings, Rey, a human scavenger, didn't share their faith.
R'iia was first mentioned in Before the Awakening, a junior novel written by Greg Rucka and published in 2015.
