Gnost-Dural was originally mentioned in the short story, but it was removed and replaced by Sal-Deron. Author Caitlin Sullivan Kelly stated in the SWTOR Forums that it was never the intention to implicate that some choices were more canon than others, after it was pointed out that Gnost-Dural can be killed by Imperial characters during the Jedi Under Siege storyline.
