Pugwis was a male Dug and the son of Hekula, making him grandson of legendary Podracing champion Sebulba. Though the Dug maintained his grandfather's villainous streak, he had none of the racing skills of his ancestor.
Despite his shortcomings, Pugwis attempted to climb the Podracing ranks for years, becoming more frustrated with each defeat. He was eventually disqualified from the Podracing circuit permanently after attacking his opponents numerous times. It was actually Pugwis' growing brutality on the track, as well as off the track, that inspired Jabba the Hutt to create his demolition games. Jabba invited Pugwis to serve as the competition's first contestant, which he eagerly agreed to, sensing a chance at fame and fortune. Unfortunately, the destruction of Jabba's criminal empire eliminated many of the Hutt's records of his prior dealings so details regarding the exact outcome of the tournament are scarce. What is known however, is that despite early victories, Pugwis eventually had a falling out with Jabba that led to Pugwis being tied to the back of his podracer and dragged through the Dune Sea, before eventually falling into the Great Pit of Carkoon and being eaten alive by the Sarlacc nesting there, which Jabba found infnitely amusing.
