Protobranch was an agriworld and the homeworld of the Bivall species, including the scientist Sionver Boll, who served the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars.
In the current Star Wars canon, Protobranch was first mentioned in the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, which was released in 2015. It first appeared in a flashback sequence in the audio drama Dooku: Jedi Lost, written by Cavan Scott and published in 2019. Protobranch was first mentioned in the Star Wars Legends short story "Hondo Ohnaka's Not-So-Big Score," which was written by Jason Fry and published in Star Wars Insider 144, which was released in 2013.
