Sometime in the Imperial Era, Pau'an medical students Fyzen Gor and Greesto Ftrak were abducted on Utapau by the Wandering Star crime syndicate, and then their captor's transport was ambushed by Utai raiders. Gor was one of the only survivors, and the medical droid from the transport offered assistance to him such as recovering protein packs from the wreckage. The droid offered to serve Gor a dinner of protein mush from a can, but Gor was too preoccupied with ideas about combining droid parts with organic flesh to eat the mush.
Prior to the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY, human starfighter pilot Norra Wexley of the New Republic was captured on the planet Jakku by stormtroopers from the Galactic Empire, and she was forced to work at a kesium gas rig. One of the food portions she sometimes received was a packet of protein mush, which had a taste that was comparable to the smell of happabore spit.
