Pilf Mukmuk first appeared in "Dooku Captured," the eleventh episode of the first season of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series, which aired on January 2, 2009.
In the episode "Dooku Captured," there were originally going to be two Kowakian monkey-lizards: the twin brothers Pikk and Pilf Mukmuk. Their role was consolidated into Pilf's.
Pilf's name is a reference to how he pilfers the lightsaber from Count Dooku off-camera.
