Pedro Pascal

José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal (born April 2, 1975), is a Chilean actor who portrays Din Djarin in the Disney+ live-action TV series The Mandalorian.

Biography

Pedro Pascal was born on April 2, 1975 in Santiago, Chile. He was recruited by The Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau to play the Mandalorian Din Djarin in the television series. On December 12, 2018, StarWars.com announced that Pascal was playing the Mandalorian in the series. Pascal was surprised by how compelling Djarin could be without showing his face. Djarin's Mandalorian rules required him to keep his helmet on in front of others, which meant Pascal could work as a voice actor while someone else wore the armor, keeping him available for other projects. At the start of The Mandalorian, he was given the opportunity to establish Djarin's physical specificity. He observed and picked up from what Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder did when wearing Djarin's armor. When Pascal wore the armor, he found it comparable to "putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it." He said wearing the helmet was like going blind because his breath fogged up the narrow slit and there was no peripheral vision. Despite this, the armor made Pascal feel powerful and like a protector.
