After Padmé Amidala's funeral in 19 BBY, Sabé and Tonra decided to go to Coruscant to investigate Amidala's death. They would need new identities and would have to give up anything that indicated they were from Naboo including the locket which Sabé decided to leave somewhere safe until she could return for it.
