Oxygen breathers was a term for species that needed to take in oxygen from the surrounding air for their bodies to work. Such beings, if unable to ensure an adequate oxygen intake, would suffer from hypoxia, becoming unconscious, and eventually dying. Humans were oxygen breathers. On the contrary, non-oxygen breathers included Gand, Kel Dors, Morseerians, and Skakoans.
