Captain Oxus was one of Han Solo's creditors. He was a fat and scarred pirate chief, and was called the "Terror of the Outlands."
Oxus owned a TDF104 crewed by Solo, Chewbacca, Jabba the Hutt and Montross Holdaack. Solo, hoping to capitalize on the reward of 2,000,000 credits for taking Luke Starkiller and his droids to Ogana Major, faked a reactor overload and emptied the ship; Montross and Chewbacca were the only other crew members to remain on board when Solo blasted off.
"Oxus" is substituted for Clieg Whitsun's surname in the first draft of the Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
In the second draft of the film's script, entitled Adventures of the Starkiller, Episode I: The Star Wars, Oxus appeared as the creditor of Han Solo. He would be renamed and re-characterized as Jabba the Hutt in the third draft of the original film.
