Ord Zynthar served as an Ordnance/Regional Depot outpost for the Galactic Republic during the Pius Dea Era, a period of time that lasted between approximately 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, despite it being located outside the borders of Republic space. When the Republic launched the Twelfth Pius Dea Crusade against the Teirasan and Zarracine species in 11,660 BBY, Republic forces moved from the Mon Gazza system in the Republic's territory to the Teirasa system via Ord Zynthar.
Ord Zynthar was introduced in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare, authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Ord Zynthar system, and therefore the world itself, in grid square P-16.
