The Official Secrets Oath, also referred to as the Official Secrets Act, was an oath signed by members of the Galactic Republic's Special Weapons Group and the Galactic Empire's Project Celestial Power. A person who had breached the oath was a subject to arrest by the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order.
The scientist Galen Erso took the Official Secrets Oath after joining Celestial Power. Reeva Demesne broke her oath when she shared some of the Republic's plans for shielding a massive superweapon that would become to be the Death Star with Erso as he had not yet taken it.
