While on Safrifa in 231 BBY, the mercenary Ty Yorrick accepted a payment of novian ore from a marsh-lord on the world after rescuing their son from a rival clan. Afterward, Yorrick planned to have the ore melted down into saw blades by an armorer on the Mid Rim shadowport Keldooine. However, she ultimately accepted another job on Safrifa after two Safrifan farmers offered her more novian ore in exchange for the Yorrick's monster-hunting services.
Novian ore appeared in the novel The High Republic: The Rising Storm, written by Cavan Scott for the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's Phase I and published on June 29, 2021. Prior to its release, a mention of the ore was included in a StarWars.com preview for the novel on April 22 of that year.
