The Nova Crystal was a Republic civilian freighter in service during the Clone Wars. It fired upon and destroyed the Traffic Interdiction Vessel TIV Z590/1, which it had mistakenly identified as a pirate vessel.
Due to the secrecy of the TIV's mission, the true nature of this vessel as a Republic ship was never released and the skipper of the Nova Crystal was regarded as a hero for his actions by the Perlemian Traffic Control.
