Gavla first appeared in Gareth Edwards' 2016 anthology film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, where he was played by an uncredited extra. He was identified in the reference book Star Wars: Rogue One: The Ultimate Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo.
