Twenty-one years after the destruction of the second Death Star, the New Republic, after a brief period of unstable and uncertain peace, faced one of the biggest threat in galactic history: the attack of the Yuuzhan Vong, a species of extra-galactic invaders. A pan-galactic conflict ensued, and it became necessary to collect the archives lest they were lost forever under the rubble of the war.
A huge centralized data pool was created to include all the Jedi Holocrons and all existing files, documents and plans relating to the New Republic, the Old Republic and the Galactic Empire of Palpatine. The New Republic centralized archives had the pretension of completeness and was known to be accessible by 27 ABY.
The New Republic Centralized archives were mentioned at the back of the galaxy map provided with the first issue of The Official Star Wars Fact File. The existence of such a collection gave in-universe perspective to the Official Star Wars Fact File.
