Role

The Nargi-class frigate was used by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances around 43 ABY. Often called simply "Galactic Alliance pursuit frigates," they were stationed in orbit over the galactic capital of Coruscant, where they were used for pursuit of vessels that broke Coruscant's flight regulations, as well as general security and law enforcement. Nargi-class frigates also had the authority to declare vessels suspect, as well as take such vessels into custody by force.

The Galactic Alliance first used Nargi-class pursuit frigates sometime after the Second Galactic Civil War. In 43.5 ABY, when several Jedi Knights began to develop a mysterious psychosis, the Galactic Alliance decided to encase all of the affected Jedi in carbonite. The New Jedi Order resented this and hid as many of the psychotic Jedi as possible in the New Jedi Temple on Coruscant, but to prevent Galactic Alliance Security from discovering them there, they decided to transport these Jedi offworld.

Captain Han Solo, whose task was to distract Galactic Alliance forces in orbit over Coruscant, flew in the Millennium Falcon, breaking every procedure for departing the planet. He was confronted by two Nargi-class frigates, the Fast Death and the Quick End. Solo eventually faked a proton torpedo explosion off the Millennium Falcons stern, spiraling toward the Quick End and declaring an out-of-control emergency. The Quick End maneuvered out of his way, and, finally convinced that Solo wasn't trying to pull a trick, the Nargi-class frigates broke off their pursuit. While the pursuit frigates and other orbital forces were sidetracked, Solo's wife, Leia Organa Solo, smuggled the psychotic Jedi offworld.
