Eli Vanto attended the Myomar Academy, and was training to become a supply officer in the Imperial Navy. Part of his training included active service on the Venator-class Star Destroyer Strikefast as part of a Wild Space scouting mission, during which they encountered the Chiss male Mitth'raw'nuruodo. Following this event, Vanto was transferred to the Royal Imperial Academy of Coruscant by order of the Galactic Emperor.
Collum Woslo became known as a brawler during his training at the academy. This troublemaking reputation earned the Imperial Army private a series of undesirable assignments in his post-academy career, culminating in his service during the Mimban Campaign of 10 BBY.
