The Mountaintop smugglers were a criminal organization in operation during the time of the Galactic Civil War. The organization primarily consisted of smugglers and spice runners.
Sometime following the Battle of Yavin in 0 BBY, they were led by a Human woman by the name of Janelle, and operated a camp in the Gallo Mountains on the Mid Rim world of Naboo, a short distance east of the city of Dee'ja Peak. In 1 ABY, Janelle acquired a ring from Herman Pate as a payment of a debt. The ring was a family heirloom previously lost by Vance Groten to Herman Pate during a Sabacc game. As Groten intended to recover his ring, he dispatched spacers to find the smuggler leader. The spacers killed Janelle and at least twenty-three other members at their camp.
The Mountaintop smugglers appeared in the 2003 massively multiplayer online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies, prior to the game's closure on December 15, 2011. The Mountaintop smugglers were added to the game as part of the "Legacy Quest" with the release of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
