Mission to Qalydon

Prelude

After receiving a Force vision to build a powerful starship called THE Arrowhead that could turn the tide of the Galactic Civil War, Rowan Freemaker embarked on a quest to build the starship. He was accompanied by his older brother Zander, sister Kordi, and their butler B1-series battle droid Roger.

Having obtained an energy matrix activator. Rowan decided to obtain a bantha–sized kyber crystal to power up the Arrowhead. To help Rowan's quest, Kordi and the astromech droid BG-81 stole Imperial information about the location of planets with kyber crystals. Though Kordi had intended to switch it with a file containing fake rebel plans, Roger accidentally supplied a file on making an . This enabled the Imperial hunter droid M-OC to track them down.

Meeting the locals

Based on the data, the Freemakers discovered five worlds that the Empire was not mining kyber crystals. Rowan decided to visit the planet Qalydon, which was home to a Lurmen village. The villagers were initially hostile to the Freemakers since they thought that they were obtaining kyber crystals for the Galactic Empire. Kordi managed to calm the villagers including their leader Biz before hostilities escalated.

Later that night, Biz explained that the villagers had lived for generations on Qalydon worshiping the Force using the kyber crystal necklaces around their necks. The Freemakers learnt that the crystals necklaces were the only crystals that the Lurmen villagers had. Rowan also befriended Biz's daughter Maynar, who regarded the Force as a myth and did not understand her father's reverence for the crystals.

Loot and plunder

Later, the Imperial officers Durpin and Plumestriker arrived with several stormtroopers aboard a Gozanti-class cruiser. They terrorized the villagers and robbed them of their kyber crystal necklaces. Rowan and Maynar managed to sneak aboard the Freemakers' starship StarScavenger and drove away the Imperials, who fled aboard the Gozanti-class cruiser with the stolen crystals.

Rowan managed to shoot the cruiser's rear stabilizer and hyperdrive, causing it to crash in the mountains nearby. With the villagers distraught over their stolen crystals, the Freemakers agreed to help them recover their kyber crystal necklaces. Kordi, Zander, and Rowan left aboard a stolen Imperial tub. While Kordi and Zander posed as Imperial technicians, Rowan hid behind the hyperdrive unit. Meanwhile, Roger stayed behind to help the villagers rebuild their damaged village.

Retrieving the crystals

Posing as technicians, Zander and Kordi managed to distract Plumestriker and Durpin by making repairs to the ship. Meanwhile, Rowan infiltrated the cruiser and found the stolen kyber crystals inside a safe. He was surprised by Maynar, who had stowed aboard the Freemakers' tub. Rowan and Maynar managed to sneak out of the Gozanti-class cruiser only to run into M-OC, who had been tracking the Freemakers.

Zander attacked M-OC with the tub but was unable to subdue the droid, who was capable of rebuilding himself. Maynar managed to flee with the crystals but was spotted by Durpin and Plumestriker, who pursued her. Rowan dueled M-OC with his lightsaber but was unable to subdue the droid despite his Force powers. Rowan then used his Force powers to entomb M-OC's chassis with upgrades and wreckage, incapacitating the droid temporarily.

Meanwhile, Maynar was cornered by Plumestriker and Durpin near some boulders but managed to escape with the help of Kordi and Zander. She managed to reunite with Rowan but the two were ambushed by Plumestriker and Durpin who escaped with the crystals aboard their newly repaired Gozanti-class cruiser. Since Zander had repaired the hyperdrive, the Imperials were able to flee into hyperspace.

However, Rowan used his Force powers to home in on the Imperial cruiser's location in the Marriten system. The Freemakers pursued the Gozanti cruiser there and disabled its rear engines. Rowan and his siblings recovered the crystals at lightsaber point.

Aftermath

The Freemakers returned with the crystals and Maynar to the Lurmen village. Chief Biz was grateful to the Freemakers for recovering his people's crystals and rescuing his daughter. Out of gratitude, he offered them the crystals but the Freemakers declined since Rowan was unwilling to deprive the Lurmen of their crystals.

M-OC managed to extricate himself from the wreckage and continue his hunt for the Freemakers. Meanwhile, Plumestriker and Durpin were demoted by the Empire for their failure and reassigned to a hardship post on the planet Jakku.
