In 9 ABY, Chiss Grand Admiral Thrawn began his campaigns against the New Republic. The Chiss recruited Dark Jedi Joruus C'baoth, who asked him in turn of his services during his campaigns—controlling Thrawn's fleet—to acquire the two twins Princess Leia Organa Solo was carrying. Therefore, Thrawn, upon getting news of the Princess' visit to Bimmisaari, sent a team of Noghri Death Commandos to the planet in an attempt to capture C'baoth's "demands".
