Michael Lynch

Michael Lynch is a model maker formerly at ILM who has worked on the crew of numerous films. He was a chief model maker for all three episodes of the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Other credits include Star Trek:Generations, Starship Troopers, Transformers, and Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

For Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace Lynch also acted as a puppeteer for C-3PO. Wearing a a full-color suit, he stood behind the puppet that he had built, at times on-set with the other actors and at others filmed against a green screen. Anthony Daniels remained off-camera and delivered the lines, guiding Lynch's movements as he brought the puppet to life. In the same film, Lynch was also responsible for making the Mos Espa Grand Arena, one of its largest miniature sets. The stands in the arena were filled with hundreds of thousands of painted cotton swabs. A blowing fan made them sway lightly, which simulated the movement of the crowd of spectators.
