The Mark of Courage was a sculpture. During the Galactic Civil War, it was awarded to a spacer after they completed a task in an effort to become a hero, which displayed their courage and bravery. When combined with the other "Mark" sculptures, the Mark of Intellect, the Mark of Honor and the Mark of Altruism, it formed a spherical shape.
In 1 ABY, a spacer, under the task of a strange Rodian hermit, gained this sculpture after displaying true courage by destroyed a wild bladeback boar that had been terrorizing the settlement of Mos Espa on Tatooine.
The Mark of Courage appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. The Mark of Courage was added to the game as part of the "Hero of Tatooine" questline, released with "Publish 9" on June 29, 2004. The "Hero of Tatooine" questline was extensively revamped upon the introduction of the "Publish 25", a.k.a. the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005, but the quest rewards, such as the "Mark of Courage," were not altered.
