A large droid army under the command of a the T-series tactical droid TN-123 and was deployed to Malastare during the Clone Wars in the year 21 BBY to secure the planet's fuel deposits for the Confederacy of Independent Systems. The ensuing battle was one of the longest and fiercest of the conflict, with the droids nearly capturing Malastare from the Galactic Republic. On the verge of defeat, the Grand Army of the Republic deployed an experimental electro-proton bomb that disabled the entire droid army in one fell swoop, inadvertently unearthing a Zillo Beast that dwelt beneath the battlefield.
The droid army incorporated several different models of battle droids that were used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems military forces, such as B1-series battle droids, B2-series super battle droids, DSD1 dwarf spider droids, LM-432 crab droids, LR-57 combat/retail droids, NR-N99 Persuader-class droid enforcers, Hyena-class Droid Bombers, and Vulture droid starfighters. Several Armored Assault Tanks were also used by the army.
The army's NR-N99 tank droids used minimal tread so as to avoid kicking up dust that might blind their fellow droid soldiers.
