Magnetic signature

A magnetic signature was a way of detecting an object. During the Battle of Christophsis, Admiral Trench attempted to use the magnetic signature of the Galactic Republic's new stealth ship as a means to lock onto and attack it. The magnetic signature in a starship was caused by electricity. Steelpeckers were drawn to the magnetic signature on metal. Starship magnetic signatures could be altered via the use of signature keys.
