It was the only official way to reach the planet's surface, as visitors to the prison world were required to dock at the station and take a shuttle down to the Prison Administration Center.
The Belsavis Republic Orbital Station was created for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released by BioWare on December 20, 2011. It serves as the spaceport for Republic players for the planet Belsavis, and can only be accessed by Republic players with their own ship. Players then can take a shuttle down to the Prison Administration Center on the planet's surface.
