Machook shared the name with a hero in Ewok legends, said to have built the first tree village on Endor.
Machook first received a Hasbro action figure in 2008, as part of an Ewok three-pack including Kettch and Keoulkeech, the packaging of which indicates an Ewok named Machook participated in the conflict with the Lahsbees after the Battle of Endor, as seen in Marvel Comics' Star Wars 94. He was not identified as any particular character seen in that comic book. The sculpt for the figure, including the cowl, was based heavily on the earlier Ewok figure Graak, with the only difference being the shape of the ears.
The San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2008: Hasbro Star Wars presentation announcing future figures to be released initially identified Machook as the tan-colored Ewok wearing a purple hood; however, Machook was later released as the dark-furred Ewok wearing a red hood, initially identified as Keoulkeech.
