Lythos system

Miners had a selection between two planets with extensive mineral holdings: Lythos I, a tidal-locked furnace with mining on the night side, or , a frigid world with supersonic winds. This choice between two equally bad outcomes became known as "Picking Between One and Fourteen", and became a slang term among miners in the Corporate Sector.
