"Long live the New Republic" was a salute used in the New Republic by former members of the Galactic Empire during the New Republic Era. It bore resemblance to "Long live the Empire," a salute used by Imperials.
During a conversation between former Imperials who joined the New Republic Amnesty Program, Amnesty Officer M34 toasted to the New Republic. The group, which included former Imperial officer Elia Kane, had repeated the salute, and afterwards Doctor Penn Pershing joined too.
