Liana Merian


Liana Merian was a character created to appear in the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, which was released on May 19, 1999. The character appeared in a scene filmed on B Stage at Leavesden Studios June 30, 1997, but it was cut from the final release of the film. In the scene, Merian is sat in a repulsorpod with Soma, Aldrete, and Antilles in the Galactic Senate Building on the planet Coruscant when Queen Padmé Amidala calls for a Vote of No Confidence in Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Antilles, who was named Bail Organa during production, then stands and seconds the motion.

In the current Star Wars canon, the character was first mentioned in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Merian was first mentioned and named in the reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds and released on May 26, 1999.
