Kintan strider death gambit

The kintan strider death gambit was a move in the game of dejarik, in which one player would sacrifice the kintan strider piece. Though normally the loss of the kintan strider would be devastating, the death gambit would often be used to mask an even more devastating countermove from the player who made the sacrifice.

Tsavong Lah considered it the only worthy move in dejarik, and later correctly deduced that Borsk Fey'lya was using it as inspiration for his own surrender, as Fey'lya was planning to kill himself and Lah at the same time. When the Yuuzhan Vong Warmaster declined to take Fey'lya into custody personally, the New Republic Chief of State instead detonated a bomb that killed over 25,000 Yuuzhan Vong warriors along with himself.

The move has much in common with aggressive gambits in Chess such as the King's Gambit and the Latvian Gambit in which one player sacrifices material in an attempt to launch a dangerous attack
