A Force-sensitive female Quermian, Kindee Ya was from her species's homeworld of Quermia. After being inducted into the ranks of the Jedi Order, Ya was trained in the ways of the Force, and over time attained the rank of Jedi Knight.
A noted telepath among the ranks of the Jedi, Ya's influence among the Jedi was dwarfed by fellow Quermian and Jedi High Councilor, Master Yarael Poof. Poof served on the Council during the Separatist Crisis, which caused strife among the Galactic Senate, and in 27 BBY sacrificed his life to end a threat against Coruscant devised by the terrorist Ashaar Khorda. Along with Vinian Ska and Loo Raelo, Ya attended the funeral of Master Poof high within the Temple's pyre room.
