Killscent was a secretion produced by slashrats when they sensed they had mortally wounded their prey. It was a combination of sweat and pheromones that could be sensed by air and underground, as it soaked into the soil. Killscent attracted other slashrats from miles around, surrounding the prey in a savage feeding frenzy called a killball.
Agamari scientists Dr. Anki Pace and Jens became familiar enough with the biology of slashrats that they developed a synthetic form of killscent that could be used to attract slashrats to a target or distract them for several minutes.
