Kilji escape pod

A type of escape pod was found aboard the Kilji Illumine government war cruiser Anvil. Small and made of metal, they were equipped with a viewport, thrusters, and an automatic beacon that broadcast its location after they were jettisoned. A passenger aboard a Kilji escape pod could survive for hours before running out of oxygen. Two pods were located aboard Illumine General Crofyp's Anvil, one to the bridge's portside, covered by an orange-rimmed door, and the other to starboard.

Around 18 BBY, Pathfinder navigator Qilori, the Anvils navigator, fled the Anvil in the portside escape pod after Crofyp remarked that those enlightened to the Kilji religion did not flee, they fought and prevailed, and therefore the Anvil would not flee although it was under attack from the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk. Qilori's pod was retrieved by the Springhawk shortly after it was jettisoned, and the Anvil was destroyed. During the same year, the Grysk operative "Jixtus" used a Kilji pod to escape the war cruiser Whetstone and travel to his flagship, the FateSpinner, during Senior Captain Thrawn's last stand.

The escape pod type appeared in the 2021 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil, the final volume in Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.
