The InterGalactic Banking Clan built the Kaer Orbital Platform at the beginning of the Clone Wars. During the Clone Wars, the Confederacy of Independent Systems used the base for constructing more droid troops and vehicles.
Kaer Station, a tibanna gas mining platform was constructed in its skies, but was later taken over by the Black Sun criminal organization and used as a base for Vigo Lun Rask in 137 ABY.
Kaer was first mentioned in the databank of the game Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds: Clone Campaigns. In Legacy (2006) 37, Kaer in Siskeen system was misplaced to Arkanis sector.
The level in Clone Campaigns was designed by Lily Mansfield, who chose the name Kaer as a variation of the Welsh word caer, meaning fortress.
