During the battle, Hawkbat Battalion and K Company were ordered to march towards a column of Separatist spider droids, leading to both units losing most of their forces. Deviss and two critically injured clone troopers survived, holding out for three hours in a shallow crater, as Deviss tended to the wounded and defended his position against the advancing column. Eventually rescued by casevac, Deviss was awarded a medal for his actions and was given a new command after the battle's end.
