Justice was a department of the Commission for the Preservation of the New Order's Coalition for Progress within the Galactic Empire. It had jurisdiction across the galaxy and a wider remit than might have been expected, being tasked with establishing acceptable galactic legal norms that would ensure the Empire's superiority. The historian Beaumont Kin briefly detailed the department in his book, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was published at some point after the Battle of Exegol in 35 ABY.
In the current Star Wars canon, Justice was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall. The group originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the Imperial Sourcebook, a 1989 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Greg Gorden and published by West End Games.
