Jubjub

The Jubjub was a business ceremony preceding an important negotiation. Food and entertainment were provided as a means of honoring the negotiation partner. The entertainment could include ritual combat between employees of both parties, upon which friendly wagers could be placed.

A Jubjub was declared by Gaar Suppoon before his talks with Jabba Desilijic Tiure. The ceremony may have been traditional on Gaar's homeworld.

The word "Jubjub" appears in Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky: "Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun / The frumious Bandersnatch!" The similarly-spelled "Jub-Jub" is also the name of Selma's pet iguana on The Simpsons.
