Joseph Bongiorno

Biography

Joseph "Joe" Bongiorno provided playtesting and advice for Star Wars Gamemaster Screen, Revised, a roleplaying game accessory for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game that was published in 1996. He was thanked by author Peet Janes for his assistance with "The Passing of a Legend: Archie Goodwin," a tribute to Archie Goodwin that was published in Star Wars Insider 38 after Goodwin's death in 1998. Along with Rich Handley, Bongiorno co-wrote the article "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series," which was published in the magazine Star Wars Gamer 1 in 2000.

Following the publication of "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Marvel Series," Bongiorno began work on two articles, "Cult Encounters of the Star Wars Universe" and "Supernatural Encounters in the Star Wars Universe," the former of which was co-written with Handley and the latter of which would have followed the work on the former. The articles were intended for Star Wars Gamer; however, that magazine was discontinued in 2002. Bongiorno then reworked them into two proposals: an article that would have been titled "Cult Encounters: Excerpts from the Last Days of Arhul Hextrophon" and a novella that would have been titled Supernatural Encounters: The Trial and Transformation of Arhul Hextrophon. He successfully pitched the duology for the StarWars.com subscriber section, Hyperspace, and he had begun preparing them for publication when the closure of Hyperspace was announced in 2010. The duology therefore was never officially published by Lucasfilm Ltd., but he has continued to write and edit them.

Bongiorno is the creator and webmaster of the Star Wars Expanded Universe Timeline, a fan website that provides chronological information, reviews, and reading guides for works from the Star Wars Legends continuity, formerly known as the Expanded Universe. The website also archives unpublished Star Wars works, such as which are referred to as "lost (and found)." He has also self-published his own unpublished writing on the website.
