Jair'i was a male Lupr'or who was the leader of the Lupr'or who lived on the planet Luprora around the time of the Battle of Starkiller Base.
Jair'i was the leader of the Lupr'or people who lived in the sole Lupr'or village on Luprora. The village was the sole Lupr'or village on Luprora after rising sea levels, environmental changes, and the depredations of the tsw'ells and R'ora had reduced the Lupr'or population to a small remnant. When Captain Phasma, TN-3465, and the droid BB-K8 of the First Order visited the village in search of the fugitive Sol Rivas, Jair'i praised Phasma for killing a tsw'ell, a monster of great size and strength.
He then recounted the history of the Lupr'or people to Phasma and TN-3465, who could understand Lupre'en. Jair'i explained how his people were the descendants of offworld refugees who wanted a new life free of technology, which they regarded as evil. The Jair'i had thrived on fishing and farming for centuries. However, rising sea levels and the depredations of the tsw'ekk and R'ora had taken a toll on the Lupr'or. Jair'i explained that the surviving Lupr'or had relocated to the village.
While Phasma translated for TN-3465, Jair'i explained that their "friend" had been taken by the R'ora and would be dead soon. However, Phasma insisted on pursuing Rivas. A reluctant Jair'i then sent the guide Dar'en to show them the R'ora stronghold in an attempt to convince them of the futility of the task. When Ali'ane's great granddaughter tried to convince Ali'ane to reveal the location of the necklace, the girl said that Jair'i claimed that Phasma had been sent from the gods and that they must help.
After salvaging technology from an abandoned starship, Phasma convinced the Lupr'or to launch an attack on the R'ora stronghold. However, this was a ruse for her to hunt down and kill Rivas in order to conceal her role in the destruction of Starkiller Base. Having outlived their use to her, Phasma then abandoned the Lupr'or to Luprora's dangerous environment and the R'ora.
Jair'i was a male Lupr'or with green skin, a bald head, and a patch covering his left eye. He admired Captain Phasma for killing a tsw'ell, a monster of prodigious strength. Jair'i regarded the R'ora and the tsw'ells as formidable opponents and that the Lupr'or stood little chance against them. He also thought that Sol Rivas had little chance of survival after falling into the hands of the R'ora. As a Lupr'or, he spoke a variation of Lupre'en. He wore a red jacket, white vest, grey gauntlets, brown trousers, and brown boots.
Jair'i first appeared in Star Wars: Captain Phasma, a 2017 four-issue comic published by Marvel Comics as part of the Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi promotional material. He was created by Kelly Thompson, illustrated by Marco Checchetto, and colored by Andres Mossa.
