J'Hara first appeared in the 2019 Star Wars young adult novel Force Collector written by Kevin Shinick. J'Hara and her relationship with Karr Nuq Sin was inspired Shinick's relationship with own grandmother, Josephine Viola, to whom the book was dedicated.
