Ten years later, the Hutt Cartel prepared for its takeover of Makeb, and bribed several high-ranking officers of the Regulators to aid them in staging a coup. Many rank-and-file members refused to betray the people they had been hired to protect, but ended up being executed by their former comrades or fleeing the planet.
The vast majority of them were wiped out by the Sith Empire to prevent the Regulators leaking information about the Empire's involvement on Makeb. They used their laser drills to destabilize locations where the mercenaries were stationed, burying them in magma and rubble.
