Imperial gas canisters were containers used to hold poisonous gas, utilized by the Galactic Empire to wipe out the Geonosian species. Due to the canisters being roughly spherical in shape and marked with the circular Imperial crest, the Spectres and Saw Gerrera, on finding them, came to believe that they were what surviving Geonosian Klik-Klak was trying to tell them about with his constant drawings of a circle inside of a circle. The Ghost crew attempted to take back two of them as proof to show the Imperial Senate that the Empire was responsible for the eradication of the Geonosians, but they were knocked off the starship while it was flying through the remains of Captain Brunson's Arquitens-class command cruiser, leaving them with only images.
