GAV pilots wore a white colored plastoid armor derivative of the coastal defender stormtroopers', incorporating elements including the chest armor, pauldrons, vambrace and rerembrace and the greaves worn over a light gray body glove. They wore a distinctive helmet also shared with the drivers of the ground transport pilot corps and a utility belt complete with several pockets.

Behind the scenes

Imperial combat assault tank pilots were created and developed for the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. They were first revealed with the teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, on April 7, 2016.

While filming, the pilots initially wore standard stormtrooper armor, but the costume was changed based on a suggestion by George Lucas.
