Shortly after the theft of Palpatine's personal yacht, the Imperialis, he contacted Chanath Cha, a trusted bounty hunter who was on the Inner Rim world of Amethia Prime. Palpatine instructed Cha to track down the stolen vessel, and he made arrangements for Cha to rendezvous with Imperial Facility 729-D to receive the Scimitar for the mission. On board the facility, Cha was greeted by pilot droid O-66 and supplied with the Scimitar, which the bounty hunter used to locate the stolen Imperialis soon after.
Imperial Facility 729-D first appeared in the 2015 comic book Lando 3, which was written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Alex Maleev.
