The Imperial Department of Military Research (IDMR) was a government military research agency within the Galactic Empire's military, with its Dark trooper program falling under an Imperial remnant led by Moff Gideon. Engineers within the IDMR often worked closely with the Imperial Security Bureau to create droids and equipment for secret operations.
The department manufactured the armors used by Imperial stormtroopers, as well as the flight helmets worn by the TIE fighter pilots. It also developed IT-O interrogation droids in secret, as well as 9D9-s54 Dianoga spy droids.
In 11 BBY, Quelton Fabrication and Cladtech were merged and brought under the control of Military Research.
