Identity contracts, also called ident pads, were documents that identified sentient beings as indentured servants; listing the individual's name and age, their term of indentured servitude, and their master.
At age 18, Jyn Erso was hired to forge ident pads to extend the terms of indenture for 20 beings whom Allehander Pso had sold as slaves to the Galactic Empire. However, Jyn liberated the enslaved individuals and freed them instead. The individuals mutinied and killed their enslavers.
